Do you remember Sandie Shaw? Sure you do. She sang "Puppet on a String."
She sang it quite a few times.
Not always in English.
Sometimes she didn't even sing it at all, but sang something completely different.
Life is funny that way sometimes.

Now I know what the Smiths would have looked and sounded like if the band had been fronted by a Midwestern mom.
hand down, The Smiths' "Hand In Glove" is one of my favorite song. Anyone could sing it, and I'd love it. Even if it was performed my the Doobie Brothers.
